The seven sins of lust, gluttony, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, and pride are the ingredients that make up the new telenovela “Sete Pecados”. A comedy about the war between good and evil, its story was inspired by the “Divine Comedy” of Dante Alighieri and Goethe’s “Faust”.
“Sete Pecados” is the story of Beatriz (Priscila Fantin), who is rich, pampered, and avaricious, and Dante (Reynaldo Gianecchini), a simple and honest cab driver who is married to Clarice (Giovanna Antonelli). Interwoven with this love story are such supernatural elements as angels and secret societies. Custódia (Cláudia Jimenez), led by Gabriel (Erick Marmo), is Beatriz’s guardian angel and wants to help her become a better person. Custódia must save Beatriz from Ágatha (Cláudia Raia), who represents the forces of evil.
The story begins when Beatriz decides to consult with Custódia, a fortuneteller. Custódia tells Beatriz that the seven sins reside within her, and that she will only find true happiness when she casts them aside to win the love of a man who will shortly enter her life. Beatriz leaves, upset by what she has heard, and later that night Pedro (Sidney Sampaio), a chef, proposes to her.
Pedro and Beatriz go to a nightclub to celebrate their engagement. While at the nightclub, Beatriz sees Marcelo (Ricardo Duque), a former boyfriend of hers. Seeking to avoid complications, Beatriz pretends not to know Marcelo, but later everyone is surprised to see pictures of Beatriz and Marcelo being intimate together at a deserted beach. Feeling betrayed, Pedro breaks off their engagement.
The next day, Pedro and Beatriz argue, and Beatriz flees the night club, whereupon she is accidentally run over by Dante. Dante leaves his car and sees to her. They start talking and find out they had once attended the same high school.
Attracted to Dante and feeling nostalgic, Beatriz invites him to go out with her, but he refuses, saying he is a happily married man. Dante leaves an angry Beatriz who has never been rejected by a man before. A guru tells Beatriz that in order to conquer Dante she must transform him by making him practice all of the seven sins so that he discovers the pleasures that reside within each one of them.
Urged on by Ágatha and Barão, Beatriz will do everything she can to win Dante. Custódia, her guardian angel, will try to stop her, but Beatriz, maddened by love, will offer Dante everything that is best in life, and he will start to yield to the temptations. Seduced by the things that her husband’s new job can provide, Dante’s wife Clarice approaches Beatriz without knowing her real intentions. From this beginning, Dante’s life will completely change…
